The Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus was one of four groups making a pitch to potential provincial election candidates this morning, to tout the benefits of making investments into rural communities, if they’re elected.
EOWC representatives were backing the initiative by the Ontario Federation of Agriculture, along with the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and the Western Ontario Wardens’ Caucus at Queen’s Park on Wednesday.
Those groups say that rural investment, especially in the agri-food sector, can make Ontario an economic powerhouse and is a “sustainable and effective way to deliver growth and prosperity” province-wide.
As part of the push for rural investment, the EOWC also says the 400 communities it represents need greater access to infrastructure cash for upgrades to broadband internet, affordable, energy, transportation and improvements to education and medical facilities.
