Quinte West council will be asked to try for some provincial government cash to improve public transit at its meeting tonight.
Substantial grants are available through the province’s Community Transportation Grant Program.
Quinte West staff are suggesting council approve applying for around 1.3 million dollars in grants for various projects.
They include a feasability study for a new route for Quinte Access, development of a new fixed route on weekdays running from Quinte West to selected spots in Belleville, new bus shelters, 2 new staffers, and the development of on demand schedules to provide transportation six days a week between Trenton, Batawa and Frankford.
