In the wake of last spring’s serious flooding in the region, Brighton council will learn of planned improvements to the community’s flood response program at its meeting tonight (Tuesday).
In a report prepared by Deputy Fire Chief Rick Caddick, Brighton council will see that high water levels in Lake Ontario cost the municipality over $140,000 with some costs still coming in.
The report suggests that in the future, the municipality have a minimum of 10,000 sandbags ready to go along with more sand in storage to fill extra bags.
Lake Ontario peaked at around 75 cm above normal last spring causing serious flooding throughout the region.
