As 2018 gets underway, there’s still no movement on the fight by the city of Belleville to get some action on repairs to be done to the former Intelligencer building in the downtown.
After a legal battle between the city and building owner Prime Canadian Properties, the court ordered repairs to be made, however, city officials say they are not done.
The city’s Chief Building Officer Ted Marecak it would cost the city more money if more legal steps are taken,

Marecak said he does intend to take steps to have the surrounding fence around the property made safer.

Major repairs were ordered on the building after pieces of the east wall came crashing down to the sidewalk years ago.
Some repairs were made in September 2015, however, city officials have said much more still needs to be done.
The building sits in a landmark spot at the corner of Pinnacle and Bridge Streets in Belleville’s downtown.
