Some concerns have been raised about the hospital transfer system involving North Hastings patients.
Reeve of Faraday Township Carl Tinney raised the issue at the Hastings County council Thursday, questioning why some patients in the north were taken to Belleville General Hospital, when their specialist was actually in Peterborough.
Hastings-Quinte Chief of Paramedics Doug Socha told council he is working with Quinte Hospital Corporation to understand why the referrals to go to Belleville first.

Socha says he met recently with QHC officials on the issue, but it is not yet resolved.
Socha said, “We have a liaison committee between the emergency department and the paramedic services. I think it’s about trying to understand a little bit more how the hospital books their transfers and what the referral alternatives are and ways we can improve the system.”
