Thanks to some donor support, Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital can now better monitor blood pressure in their patients.
A portable blood pressure monitor and cuff was purchased for the MacSteven Dialysis Clinic by Shirley King of Wellington.
King is a dialysis patient herself and a monthly supporter of the PEC Memorial Hospital Foundation.
King says she wanted to give back but she never thought she could make a difference.
The equipment came with a $860 price tag.
The MacStevens Dialysis Clinic opened in 2002 and is currently treating 18 patients three times a week for three to five hours.
The government doesn’t provide funding for the purchase of equipment.
