A man tried to get away from Belleville police officers early this morning (Monday) in west end Belleville, but failed.
Around 2 o’clock a resident of Wright Avenue reported a vehicle stolen from her driveway.
An officer on patrol spotted the vehicle and followed it while calling in others to respond.
The vehicle was boxed in and stopped on Catherine Street without damage or a pursuit.
Charged with theft and impaired driving was 23-year-old Michael Junior Nolan.
Meanwhile, just after midnight, a pickup truck collided with a car at the intersection of Sidney Street and College Street West.
The truck driver, a 23-year-old Belleville man, was charged with impaired driving.
No one was injured.
And, after 10 o’clock new year’s eve, a car smashed into a traffic light pole near Belleville General Hospital.
The pole was broken in two and a 23-year-old man was charged with careless driving.
No one was injured.
City police officers also dealt with several alcohol related incidents, both in homes and in licensed establishments overnight.
No serious injuries have been reported.
