Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison says his city has seen a lot get done of the past 12 months.
Along with hosting some major provincial hockey tournaments, the mayor says the city has been making strides in a number of areas.
And while the mayor says 2017 was a fantastic year overall, he is noting one major story that he thinks will have a negative effect on the city, moving forward.
Harrison pointed to the shrinking group of media covering municipal affairs and says cuts at some local outlets will hurt municipalities across the country.
The mayor did note that the media issue is one being faced by municipalities across the province and the country, but the local media landscape has been especially hard hit.
