There is some good news for beer lovers in Ontario as Bill 107, naming Ontario Craft Beer Week, has received Royal Assent.
The bill was introduced by Northumberland-Quinte West MPP Lou Rinaldi in March and received all party support this past Tuesday.
With a number of local craft breweries in the Quinte Region, Rinaldi says the independently-owned craft beer industry is becoming an economic driver for the province.
Locally-produced craft beer has become one of the fastest growing categories at LCBO outlets Ontario-wide, with more than 500 unique brands available.
Ontario Craft Beer Week has been put on by the Ontario Craft Brewers for the past eight years, but will now officially be marked province-wide, starting on the second Sunday of July, by various sampling events at small breweries.
