A single vehicle collision closed part of Casey Road in Thurlow Ward and sent a man to hospital Saturday night.
Around 7 p.m., Belleville police, fire and emergency crews all attended the scene, where the westbound vehicle ran off the road and struck a hydro pole, severing it in half and pulling down wires.
Hydro crews took several hours to repair the wires and replace the broken pole.
The driver, a 38-year-old Deseronto man, was taken to Belleville General Hospital with minor injuries.
The man was charged with careless driving, driving without insurance, and driving with an expired license plate.
He has a January court date.
