The levy to commercial businesses to pay for the Belleville Downtown Improvement Area’s operation won’t be going up next year.
The BDIA Board of Directors suggested a $262,500 dollar budget for next year, which would have meant higher levies to members.
However, there was a motion to stay with the same budget as this year, which was $230,000 and that passed.
In a dramatic turn of events, a member said she had no confidence in the current board and tried to pass a zero budget, but that was turned down in a surprisingly close vote.
