Talks to end a month long labour disruption at Ontario’s two dozen colleges, including Loyalist College, broke down yesterday.
The College Employer Council is now asking Ontario’s Labour Relations Board to schedule a direct vote by 12,000 striking faculty members on a final contract offer the colleges’ bargaining team says addresses union concerns.
It’s also asking the union to suspend its strike ahead of that vote, so a half million students can return to class.
But the OPSEU faculty bargaining team says no group on strike would ever agree to suspend a strike before a vote — especially on an offer the union cannot recommend.
