The Trenton Golden Hawks will be first out of the chute when they open the new Ontario Junior Hockey League season tonight.
Lots has changed since the Hawks long playoff run ended at the RBC Cup in May. The biggest is behind the bench where longtime Wellington Dukes coach and general manager Marty Abrams has jumped to the rival Golden Hawks. With only five players returning there are lots of new faces in the Trenton lineup including Jorgen Johnson and Carson Poulin in goal. Abrams says both could be number one.
Abrams had 5 exhibition games to assess his team.
The Golden Hawks host the Mississauga Chargers tonight at the Dunc McDonald Community Gardens at 7:30.
The Wellington Dukes open their new season on the road tomorrow in Burlington then Sunday in Milton. Dukes General Manager and Associate Coach Ryan Woodward offers his assessment of his team.
The Dukes first home game is next Friday when they host Kingston.
