Local skaters are in 5th and 9th place after the short program at the International Skating Union’s Junior Grand Prix championship in Riga Latvia.
Canadian junior champions Trennt Michaud of Brighton and partner Evelyn Walsh are in 5th spot heading into today’s free skate program. Michaud is now a member of the Trenton Figure Skating Club. Michaud and Walsh are veterans of International Skating. Last season, they placed 11th at the ISU Junior Grand Prix in Estonia and fifth in Germany. They also won the junior level at the 2017 Bavarian Open, and placed fifth at the 2017 ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships.

Stirling’s Chloe Choinard and Mathieu Ostiguy of Granby Quebec are in 9th place following their short program. This is the first ISU Junior Grand Prix assignment for the team who paired up earlier this year.
