And now it really does begin.
Top prospects of the Ottawa Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens come together at the Ricoh Centre for a three-day rookie tournament beginning tomorrow.
Many of the 23 players invited to Ottawa’s rookie camp will play in Belleville this season. Three have already made their NHL debut. Thomas Chabot, Colin White and Andreas Englund.
The team will include 13 players drafted by Ottawa, one by trade, three free agents and six on tryout contracts.
The rookie team will be led by Belleville Senators’ head coach Kurt Kleinendorst and assistant Paul Boutilier.
The team will practice at the Bell Sensplex today before going to Toronto.
