Richard Vader has been remanded back into custody until September 11, where he is set to make another video appearance at the Quinte Consolidated Courthouse.
Wearing an orange Quinte Detention Centre t-shirt, a calm and clean shaven Vader made a brief video appearance Thursday morning in front of Justice of the Peace Sam Cureatz.
Vader’s lawyer Pieter Kort requested the matter be put over, stating the domestic related charges laid in the case warrant a remand by video and they are still waiting to see if there will be any additional charges – something both Quinte West and Prince Edward OPP have told Quinte News could be possible as the investigation continues.
Currently Vader is facing eight counts of assault, five counts of failing to comply with a probation order and one count each of uttering a death threat, possession of property, possession of property under $5,000 and mischief under $5,000.
The charges follow Vader leading local law enforcement on a massive four day manhunt throughout the Quinte Region before his subsequent arrest last Saturday. Vader is alleged to have stolen several vehicles, including pickups, an ATV, and a motorcycle and spent time running through fields and forests in his flight from police.
