Doctors say the young man injured in an non-suspicious incident involving an arrow is lucky to be alive.
Monday morning, emergency response crews and Central Hastings OPP rushed to a rural residence in Tweed in response to a report of a 19-year-old man suffering from a serious injury. He was transported to Belleville General Hospital then airlifted to Kingston General Hospital where he underwent surgery to remove the arrow from his chest.
A family member close to the situation told Quinte News the crossbow Ben Crittenden was operating accidentally went off logging a target arrow in his chest. It punctured his lung just a millimeter away from the Kingston man’s heart. Following surgery, doctors informed family it went well and Crittenden is a very lucky young man.
Ben’s mother, Sarah Crittenden said she is very thankful for all the community support , prayers and outreach over the last day.
Central Hastings OPP are still investigating.
