Water levels in Lake Ontario and surrounding waterways are at record highs this summer. It is expected they will not recede until early fall. Although the flooding has lessened, the damage to the shoreline continues along Adolphus Reach, the Bay of Quinte and in Greater Napanee
Pleasure crafts moving at excessive speeds are causing erosion, damage to moored boats and may endanger persons present along the shore. line.
The Napanee OPP and the Town of Greater Napanee are asking boaters to slow down to a speed of 5 knots when travelling in these areas. This will lessen the wake created by boats and protect the shoreline from further damage.
