CFB Trenton is helping in the emergency response to the raging forest fires across British Columbia.
The federal government sent two CC-177 Globemaster 3 and a CC-130J Hercules from 8 Wing Trenton. A pair of Chinooks and three Griffin helicopters from other bases were also sent as crews battle more than 200 wildfires.
The aircraft deployed will assist with evacuation efforts and airlift first responders and equipment.
Meanwhile, more and more evacuation alerts are being issued across BC where hot, dry weather continues to fuel raging forest fires.
Late Monday night, officials issued an evacuation alert for the more than 10,000 residents of Williams Lake.
Municipal officials are warning that people may have to leave on a moment’s notice because wind and lightning in the forecast for tomorrow could push fires towards the city at a rapid pace.
There are now 25,000 people who are either on alert or have already been ordered to leave their homes.
