With the nation celebrating its 150th anniversary, a song by a local singer is getting another lease on life.
25 years ago, Jeanette Arsenault dropped the song “This Is My Canada”, however it never received a nation release. It did however garner her national attention, with coast to coast performances and even stops at the Olympics (Salt Lake City, Athens). She also sang it for Queen Elizabeth in 1992 during her visit to Ottawa.
For the 150th, numerous well known artists have jumped on board for a new version of the song.
A multicultural choir called Young Singers also performed on the song.
Arsenault said with the 150th anniversary coming up, she thought it the song was to ever go national, now was the time.
