The province of Ontario is celebrating its 150th anniversary by shining a light on the history of Canada’s Indigenous Peoples.
Today, Northumberland-Quinte West MPP Lou Rinaldi was in Port Hope to announce a $10,000 grant to the Green Wood Coalition’s Full Circle Days initiative.
It’s a three-day, free program of activities aimed at fostering a better understanding of Canada’s shared history of its Indigenous Peoples. This event welcomes Indigenous voices to be heard through educational and cultural activities.
This initiative is just one of 367 events and celebrations that Ontario is funding across the province for Ontario’s 150th anniversary.
Ontario has also released a new recording of A Place to Stand (Ontario Song), the province’s unofficial anthem.
The Community Celebration Program is one of three community-based Ontario150 grant programs that will promote community engagement, empower young people and contribute to economic growth.
