A Belleville police Detective Constable has been praised for an idea that could lead to better enforcement against those involved in “human trafficking”.
Constable Jeremy Ashley has proposed that anyone convicted of human trafficking be listed on Ontario’s Sex Offender Registry.
Belleville Police Chief Ron Gignac says having traffickers on the registry allows authorities to know what they’re up to.
Constable Ashley’s proposal will be presented at Queen’s Park by MPP Todd Smith in hopes of having it become legislation.
