The company hoping to build an industrial wind farm on Prince Edward County’s south shore is playing its cards close to its chest after a decision by the Environmental Review Tribunal.
WPD White Pines had planned on installing 27 big turbines, but after a lengthy process, the Tribunal decided to disallow 18 of them to protect the habitat of the Blanding’s Turtle.
The decision also ensures that there will no turbines in Prince Edward County’s Important Bird Area.
A spokesman for WPD White Pines says the company will take a few days to meet with its lawyers before deciding how to respond to the decision.
WPD had been clearing land for the turbines in recent days, but not in the spring foraging habitat of the Blanding’s Turtle.
