Patients in the Bancroft area will have greater access to care, thanks to an investment from the Eastern Ontario Development Program, distributed through the Community Futures Development Corporation of North and Central Hastings.
MP Mike Bossio announced the $88,000 commitment to the Bancroft Family Health Team, which will be split up over two years.
The money will give the health team the ability to add new technology to provide remote access to specialists in urban areas.
That technology includes telemedicine and video conferencing, so patients don’t have to travel as much to see doctors in specialized fields.
The health team says the project will coordinate up to 44 specialized visits per month, which also reduces the hassle and expense patients will face.
