In an interesting turn of events, it is possible that a tentative contract agreement could be reached in the strike by workers with Community Living Campbellford/Brighton at the very same time a big union rally is being held tomorrow (Saturday).
A provincial government mediator is bringing the two sides together in Cobourg at 10 o’clock tomorrow morning to restart negotiations. That’s the same time a rally featuring the President of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union, Smokey Thomas, starts in downtown Campbellford.
Close to 100 employees of Community Living Campbellford/Brighton have been on strike for better wages and a better transportation policy since March 22.
