It was a scary time for a teenage boy in the cold waters off of Prince Edward County late yesterday afternoon.
Someone reported seeing a boy, said to be 17, on a homemade raft between Long Point and Timber Island around 4 o’clock. The raft took on water with the boy hanging on.
Prince Edward County firefighters responded quickly with a rescue boat and taking him to shore where he was brought to hospital in Picton for treatment of hypothermia by a helicopter from CFB Trenton’s 424 Search and Rescue Squadron.
A Coast Guard vessel, ambulances and the Ministry of Natural Resources also responded.
