It’s been a long time in the making, and the threat of legal action looms, but it appears the spat over cost-sharing for the operation of the arena in Madoc is over.
On Thursday morning, the Mayor of Centre Hastings and the Reeve of Madoc Township will sign a new 5 year contract on who pays how much to run the Madoc and District Recreation Centre.
Centre Hastings has long insisted Madoc Township hasn’t been paying its fair share to run the arena.
The agreement to be signed is for 5 years. Under it, Madoc Township will play $67,500. a year to be adjusted by the cost of living each year for the operation of the rink. The Township had been paying around $40,000.
Madoc Township will also pay $18,000. a year for capital costs, to be adjusted annually by the cost of living.
The signing ceremony will occur Thursday morning at 10 in Centre Hastings council chambers.
