A new Executive Director for the Downtown Belleville Business Improvement Area has been hired.
The local woman’s contract is still being completed, so her name isn’t being released at this time.
Due to budget constraints, the Executive Director’s position has been trimmed back to a part-time one.
Meanwhile, it isn’t known if the BIA board’s current employee, Debby Nolan, will continue under the new leadership. Her contract ends at the end of this month.
In other news, the board is getting set for better weather and for a big birthday.
The board voted to set aside up to $10,000 for the purchase of new pole banners featuring logos and the Canadian flag.
The flag will be shown on all of the banners as part of the country’s 150 birthday celebration.
The banners will be up this spring throughout downtown Belleville and on major roadways leading into it.
And, members of, and staff working for, the Belleville Downtown Improvement Area will soon have a new online system to organize and communicate with each other.
The BIA board has voted to spend $1,000 with an ongoing $149 monthly cost for a membership program known as “member365”.
The program will allow members to communicate with the BIA staff and with each other, as well as allowing posting of some business and event information.
It will be linked directly to the BIA’s public website and others.
It will be up and running this spring.
