Belleville, and the Quinte Region in general, made the front page of a national newspaper, the Toronto Star, Monday as one of the regions growing by attracting immigrants.
Recently Statistics Canada reported Belleville grew by 2.6% in the last five years.
Mayor Taso Christopher told Quinte News “immigration is a priority.”
He says the city has worked with local partners on the immigration internet portal and other projects.
He points to infrastructure work the city has undertaken to attract companies to the industrial park

Dug Stevenson of Bay of Quinte Marketing says the idea is to go after the immigrants who are in the big cities and may not like that lifestyle.
