Canada’s recent trade deal with Europe could mean more business opportunities for Belleville, Quinte West and Brighton, but the future of business negotiations with the United States companies is still playing out.
Quinte Economic Development Commission Executive Director Chris King told a meeting of the Commission board Tuesday it has set its 2017 targets, and they continue to feature aerospace technology, and food production.
King says the idea is to stay on top of the trends, including Canada’s recent European trade deal.

He says the impact of a new president in the United States, and what the impact will be on manufacturing in this area, is “still unknown.”
King says the idea is to be prepared to adjust the QEDC program throughout the year, if necessary.
The QEDC board approved a budget of $1 million for 2017.
