The Hastings Prince Edward Board of Health has set its 2017 budget.
The board approved a budget of $15.5 million at its meeting Wednesday.
Finance Chair Belleville Councillor Jack Miller says the province has frozen its funding for a number of years, putting more demand on the municipalities.
He says the lack of increased provincial funding means “more pressure on health resources to restructure to address today’s needs.”
Miller says Belleville council had told its external agencies to “hold the line” and he feels the public health board has done that.
The four partner municipalities will pay $3.3 million of the total budget:
Belleville $1 million, Hastings County $863,737, Quinte West $865,265, and Prince Edward County $558,269.
