Hastings County has signed up a new family doctor under its Family Physician Recruitment program.
Thirty-four year-old Payman Charkhzarin will take up his duties in Marmora and Lake as part of the Central Hastings Family Health Team in August 2018, once he has completed his residency in Ottawa.
He is in his first year of Family Medicine Residency at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa.
He and his family moved to Canada from Iran in 2003.
Charkhzarin says he did a placement in Madoc during his third year of studies and thought Hastings County “was one of his best placements”.
He is the 11th doctor signed up to the program which provides $150,000 to each doctor, over six years.
