A local music and movie shop, with a nationally known identity, is petitioning to be declared a tourist attraction.
Sam the Record Man in Belleville’s Quinte Mall is the last location of the iconic franchise and its owners are trying to get a sign on the 401 recognizing that.
Owner Spencer Destun bought the family business in 1979 and says a “Sam’s” logo near the highway could catch a lot of eyes and benefit the entire region.
Destun says when Sam’s closed its franchises across the country, including the flagship store in Downtown Toronto, his shop was able to stay open just on based having a strong clientele and using good business practices.
