A 23 year old Belleville woman is embroiled in the furor surrounding the violent events at a Washington D.C. pizzeria recently.
A man entered the pizzeria and fired a weapon. No one was injured.
The man was reacting to on-line rumours of a child sex ring being operated out of the pizzeria and connected to Democratic presidential candidate Hilary Clinton.
The incident is known as “Pizzagate”.
Now, according to an article in the Toronto Star, Belleville writer Stefanie MacWilliams, who writes for the website Planet Free Will, wrote about the pedophile conspiracy theory three weeks before the violent incident, helping to spread what some call dangerous and fake news.
In the article, MacWilliams says she was careful to state that she didn’t know if the theories were true, or not.
Apparently, traffic to the Planet Free Will website has gone up exponentially.
Other websites were and are also involved in the spreading of the theory.
