The Old East Hill was alive with the sound of music Saturday.
Thanks to Porchfest, the eighth annual edition of the highly successful grassroots event, saw over 30 musical venues for city residents to visit and sample the ear candy.
The event originally was organized in 2008 by Ken Hudson and Lucinda Pritchard, and last year the Rotary Club of Belleville was asked to organize the event.

The event is run with a zero budget, relying solely upon community volunteers, musicians and porch hosts.
Sam Brady, Rotary member and chair of Porchfest, said that this year saw an increase of participating musicians, up from last year’s tally of 22.
Brady says the formula for the annual event’s success is quite simple.
A new addition to the festival was a participatory drumming circle in the Old East Hill Park.
