The unemployment rate rose last month in Canada and remained the same for Ontario.
However, in this part of the province, the unemployment rate dropped dramatically.
Statistics Canada says the unemployment rate in our region was just 5.7% last month.
In July of last year, the rate was 7.3%. The Ontario rate was 6.4% in July.
Nationally, the unemployment rate edged up to 6.9% from 6.8% in June, with the
economy losing over 31,000 full-time jobs.
