Roaring boat engines rocked the Bay of Quinte over the weekend.
The 5th annual Bay of Quinte Poker Run drew 17 participants to the event that began and ended at Belleville’s Meyer’s Pier, with stops in Deseronto, Adolphustown, Picton and Quinte West.
Bill Taylor, president of Poker Runs America and Poker Runs Canada, says the smaller Belleville based Poker Run is all about promotion for the sport and attracting new boaters.

He noted that there were a few first timers out for the event and they really enjoyed themselves.
“They were super accelerated, the adrenaline rush stayed with them throughout the evening.”
This year’s winner was Dave Turnbull, a local participant who has been part of the event since the beginning.

Taylor said that well over 100 people came to the dinner and awards ceremony at Legendz Pub in Rossmore. Prizes included Snap On tools, Protégé patio sets and Sandbanks winery gift baskets.
Sunday featured the Ride of a Lifetime fundraiser where, for $200 per person, anyone could experience a ride in the pace boat. Funds raised during these runs benefit the Belleville General Hospital Foundation, though with windy weather and overcast skies public attendance was low.
