Ontario Provincial Police say they’ll be cracking down on motorists who fail to move over for roadside emergency vehicles during the Civic Day long weekend.
OPP say more than 2,000 charges were laid last year under Ontario’s Move Over law – the highest number since 2008, when more than 2,800 charges were laid.
With heavy traffic volumes expected throughout the province this weekend, OPP say drivers will likely see many roadside emergency vehicles, making it particularly important for drivers to obey the law.
The law carries a fine ranging from $400 to $2,000 and three demerit points.
