It’s still not known whether most surgical procedures now being done at Trenton Memorial Hospital will be moved to Belleville General.
Speaking on CJBQ’s Lorne Brooker Show, the CEO of Quinte Health Care Mary Clare Egberts said that despite both the QHC and Southeast LHIN boards’ backing of the plan to shift the surgeries, the final decision rests with the Minister of Health, Dr. Eric Hoskins.
He has not made a decision yet.
Egberts says the recent announcement of a $4 million funding increase from the province to Quinte Health Care had nothing to do with the surgery issue.
Egberts said the Minister of Health was very interested in the controversy surrounding Trenton Memorial, and had implied that there would be extra funding to keep the surgeries there at a recent visit.
