A beloved Belleville cardiologist is being remembered and honoured for his commitments to his professional and volunteer work.
Wednesday, at a special ceremony the Belleville General Hospital Foundation announced it is renaming the Heritage Society – the Dr. Bruce Cronk Society.
The program that started in 1999 allows members to make a charitable bequest, or gift of insurance to BGHF in their will.
Before he died in 2015 at the age of 91, Dr. Cronk worked at BGH from 1951 until his 1988 retirement. He received the Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship in 2009.
Dr. Cronk’s son Rob and daughter Anne Freeland attended the ceremony. Freeland says it’s overwhelming and inspiring.
Program manager Julie Brown says the re-launch includes an extensive biography of Dr. Cronk that will be published online and the community can share their stories of him as well.
