Trenton proved again they are truly number one with a 4-1 win over host Lloydminster at the RBC Cup in Saskatchewan Thursday.
The Golden Hawks have clinched first place going into the semi-final set for Saturday where they will again play the Bobcats. Broadcast time on 800AM CJBQ is 4:20 p.m. eastern. The Brooks Bandits will play the West Kelowna Warriors.
Thursday night, the G-Hawks came out strong in the first period scoring all four goals consecutively out of their initial eight fired in a game riddled with penalties.
Mac Lewis got the party started early on at 1:33 into the first.
Mitch Emerson who was selected as the player of the game would secure two in a row and Danny Hanlon brought home the fourth.
Emerson says they wanted to have a hot start.
Coach Jerome Dupont says the score didn’t tell the whole story of the game.
Morgan Messenger scored the lone goal for the Bobcats.
While the Hawks were outshot 35 to 28, Daniel Urbani was solid in net stopping 34.
