A former Belleville city councillor says municipal workers around Quinte did a great job with clearing snow during Tuesday’s storm.
On the Lorne Brooker Show today, Tom Lafferty discussed the idea of spending more money on machinery to clear the roads.
Lafferty says you cannot spend a lot more and have the equipment sit idle 99% of the time.
He says the cost to maintain the equipment makes taxes go up and residents simply cannot afford the extra burden.
Former Mayor Ross McDougall praised workers for the plowing, saying they do a great job with what they are given.
A record snowfall for February 16 was recorded in Quinte, with 22.4 centimetres measured at CFB Trenton.
