Napanee OPP are investigating a near case of identity theft for a local resident while on holidays in the U-S. The complainant used the internet access provided at a motel and after returning home learned his friends had been contacted through his email account by someone else. The messages asked his friends to wire him money as he had become involved in a situation. Investigators say luckily no money was wired. OPP says if you’re locked out from your hotmail account for unknown reasons, someone may have attempted, or successfully compromised it.
