Brighton council has rejected the Applefest committee’s recommendation to remove councillor Emily Rowley from the group.
Applefest committee chair Carol Loader sent the municipality a letter asking council to find another municipal representative, citing the “confrontational atmosphere” during meetings in 2009, but council turned down the request.
Rowley said she was asked to leave the committee after questioning how finances were being spent and decisions made by unnamed committee members. The committee will meet today, and Rowley says she plans to attend.
