Once again, Brighton has been denied a federal funding grant. Mayor Chris Herrington says the municipality is disappointed its application for 50-thousand dollars to hire a part time employee to upgrade information technology was denied. The feds say the funding is for long-term employment opportunities….but, the Mayor says if they don’t have an I-T department it will be difficult to hire longterm employees. Brighton has been denied grants from senior levels of government numerous times over the past year and received the latest bit of bad news at last night’s Committee of the Whole meeting.
