A second attempt at selling the former Quinte Sanitation Landfill site near Bayside hasn’t been any more successful for the City of Quinte West.
The Aikens Road property was one of several advertised by the city as being available to the highest bidder, with a minimum tender of 592-thousand dollars. However, C-A-O Gary Dyke says no one expressed any interest by last Friday’s deadline. The treasurer will now prepare a report on what the city should do.
The 592-thousand would have covered many years of unpaid property taxes and legal costs. Quinte West first tried to sell the landfill site, which closed many years ago, for 430-thousand dollars in 2008, but there were no takers.
