The Canadian Union of Public Employees has filed a grievance against combining the bylaw enforcement service in Prince Edward County with canine control.
Chief Bylaw Official Garry Davis says the move is expected to save the municipality ten-thousand dollars, while increasing efficiency and customer service. CUPE Local 22-75 president Mike Kerr sent a letter to administration, saying the union had 12 points of contention with combining the two services, and claimed staff would be cut. Two staff members are now trained for the same positions.
