A large amount of photographs and materials connected to one of the members of Canada’s Group of Seven artists, and found in Gilmour, will go on the auction block next month.
Reta Evans of Gilmour discovered the items at the nearby home of Frank Johnston’s daughter-in-law, who she was once a housekeeper for..She cleaned out the house after the woman moved away about 15 years ago, and found paintings in the garage and pictures Johnston had taken.
The hundreds of various pieces will be auctioned off on May 23rd at the North Kawartha Community Centre in Apsley.
