A new development in the saga of a Belleville teenager murdered in Bermuda 14 years ago.
Rick Meens, a former Belleville resident who was hosting 17-year-old Rebecca Middleton during her vacation in 1996 has applied to the European Court of Human Rights to review the case next January. He wants Bermuda and the United Kingdom found guilty of failing in their obligations to respect the girl’s human rights. Meens says he has repeatedly asked Britain for a full judicial inquiry examining the entire management of the murder, failed investigation and botched judicial handling of the prosecution and trials, but three ministers of the overseas territories have refused him.
