The lockdown at Warkworth Institution has ended..
The restrictions on visiting and normal activities was ordered by the Acting Warden on Sunday afternoon to allow staff to search the facility. That came after the discovery of homemade weapons earlier in the day. A search of the medium security institution has been completed, and no other serious contraband was found. Regular visits resumed yesterday afternoon.
